Vanalinn, Tallinn, Estonia

Every visit to Tallinn has to start with Old Town or "Vanalinn" in the center of the city. Narrow, winding cobblestone streets lead you through ancient castle ruins, touristy shops and exciting restaurants. At night, the streets have a mystical quality, especially after a light rain.

Vanalinn's cobblestone streets
are magically beautiful at night.

You'll find amber and antiques, fine textiles as well as peasant handicrafts and hand-knit Estonian sweaters. You'll discover churches and theaters, monuments and odd bits of statuary.

One of the most difficult things to decide is where to eat. There are so many places with enticing atmospheres and unbelievably delicious food that it's hard to know which one to try first.

One thing you can count on. You'll never be bored; there's just too much to do and see and taste in Vanalinn.
