On the farthest, most northeastern tip of Estonia lies the small town of Narva-Joesuu. It's dedicated to the summer pleasure of visitors who want to enjoy broad sandy beaches and sun.
During the summer season, there are several hotels that sit right on the beaches. During the off-season, most of them are closed but you can still find one or two oases such as the Yes Hotel near the center of town. Narva-Joesuu is a good place to stay if you're visiting Narva, some 12 kilometers to the south.
Even though the town caters to Russian tourists, we had no trouble communicating with the friendly, quiet hotel clerks in English.

There are plenty of places
to stroll in Narva-Joensuu,
including this park.

Someone has raked the autumn
leaves into piles on a street
that leads to one of the beaches.
The town could use an infusion of capital to restore buildings that have gone unused since the end of the Soviet era, but the pleasant little parks and streets invite you to enjoy a stroll and just unwind.
